San Marcos California by Jill Thomas
Greetings sweet readers,
What an amazing week we have had here. I wanted to continue this love fest with another breathtaking engagement session by the, ever so talented, Jill Thomas. These images take my breath away. Ilknur and Ryan are the most adorable couple! I am over the moon in love with her dresses, and the whole feel of this shoot, styled by Kami with a K. Jill’s talents have graced our pages before with an amazing vineyard wedding, (with the most amazing bridesmaid dresses ever) and a Sparkly California engagement. I am oh so happy to add to the collection with this beauty! See Ilknur and Ryan’s entire shoot on Jill’s blog here. Wow, now that’s a good start to the weekend!
Thanks for sharing these beauties with us Jill. Congratulations Ilknur and Ryan!

Timeless Engagement by Cheryl M. Photography
Greetings sweet readers,
I just love when I get such sweetness in my inbox. Like this engagement session from Cheryl M Photography. It shows in these photos how relaxed and comfortable she made Sarah and Matthew. Cheryl has mad skills, just look at the light! Ahhh light! She is also so sweet, a double whammy in my book. These images will be such sweet reminders of their love. A timeless nature inspired engagement session, that looks just as amazing on the wall now as it will 20 years from now, genius. These do not disappoint. But dont take my word for it, take a moment to devour them for yourself…
From the bride to be:
“The shoot took place at Faust Park in Chesterfield, Missouri. We got engaged while in Destin for one of Matt’s best friends weddings. The night of their wedding Matt said we should take a walk the next morning and watch the sunrise but I was sure he wouldn’t wake up after the nights festivities. The next morning his alarm went off at 5:45 and I asked if he set his alarm and he said no, lol. I threw on some sweatpants and he came out in a button down collared shirt but I figured he just found the first thing and threw it on. We got to the beach and started walking and walking, he kept asking where the sun was and finally I asked if we could stop walking, then he dropped on his knee right as the sun came up and asked me to be his wife! I was completely surprised! Everyone on the trip knew and congratulated us when we got back. It was the best day of my life.”
Congratulations Sarah and Matthew! Thanks for sharing these beauties with us!

Film Is My Weakness by Jose Villa
Greetings sweet readers,
So, I got an email from a film photography legend and it said “Do you like these pictures?” I almost replied, I like EVERYTHING you do! But I kept my cool and simply stated that yes, I thought they were wonderful. You see, this is what happens to a person when they find the art medium they really love about art. You get goosebumps, cold sweats, and squeals of joy are elicited. Sometimes I even weep because it seems that’s what I do when I am overly excited about something. This email led me to reevaluate how I feel about the art of wedding photography and the inspiration I share. So get ready for a great ride my friends, I am sure there will be more film in-store for you…. now on to the show.
Jose Villa teamed up with Kate of Flowerwild to create this inspiration shoot for Rouge Magazine (on Jose’s blog here). I am so loving the simple elegant setting with a “less is more” feel. Jose is an amazing artist and is an equally wonderful person. I had the pleasure to meet him at a wedding where he took a picture of my daughter and husband that I will cherish forever. It made me think about location, having a location perfectly suited to your wedding doesn’t require a year’s worth of goodie collecting to make it special and beautiful. Having this inspiration shoot at El Presidio de Santa Barbara proves to me that the location is paramount. You can have your wedding chock full of props and amazing details uniquely personal to you both, but at the end of the day if the venue has a giant satellite dish in the background of all the pictures it will…. well, it will be a bummer. In the end timeless trumps trinkets every time.

River City Gardens by Melissa Brandman
Greetings sweet readers,
Can I just say how much I admire Melissa Brandman ability to capture (oh so beautifully I might add) the amazing moments between a couple. This wedding between Brittany and John is radiating love. These two are so happy, they are seriously giddy, and it shows. Los Angeles River Center and Gardens all lit up at night is a stunning backdrop to what I can only imagine was a day filled with love and laughter.
From the Bride:
“My inspiration came from the beautiful colors found in peacock feathers. I’m Jewish and my husband is Croatian. We decided to have a traditional Jewish ceremony but we wanted to incorporate several Croatian traditions to include his culture. For example, In a Jewish ceremony, a Kiddush cup is used to drink the wine, but we also used a traditional Croatian Bukara. Also, during the ceremony the rabbi recites seven blessings. The rabbi suggested that we ask seven of our closest family and friends to offer their own personal blessing after he recited the Jewish seven blessings. My husband’s aunt from Bosnia, his godfather, cousin, and grandmother from Serbia shared their personal blessings during the ceremony. It was beautiful!!
The Los Angeles River Center and Gardens is a magical place to have a wedding. We didn’t want the standard 4 hour wedding – we wanted to party all night! We also didn’t want the typical hotel or banquet hall setting. We wanted something different, something unique. The LA River Center is an incredible venue. There is a gorgeous fountain in the middle of the courtyard, the gardens are manicured beautifully, the trees are lit with mini lights, and the buildings are Mission style with beautiful Mexican tile floors. You also have the venue for 12 hours, you can use 3 separate areas, and there’s an indoor area in case of rain. I’ve lived in LA my entire life, and both my husband and I have worked at several events in LA, and neither one of us had ever heard of The LA River Center and Gardens. It’s an amazing find!! Definitely check it out!!!”
Congratulations you two, many happy years!
xoxo
